Christian rap, Gospel rap, and Holy Hip Hop fans watchout!
ILL PHIL is a Christian rap artist born in New Orleans. At age 21 gospel rap was nowhere on is mind when he realeased a secular rap album in his hometown under the rap name L.P. Through this album he became aquianted with the rap industry. In Aug 2005 he was relocated to Houston, TX as a result of hurrican Katrina. Shortly after, while working on a new rap album, he was saved. He then gave rapping up thinking that there was no such thing as good christian rap music. While browsing the internet one day he typed in the keyword gospel rap. After failing to find any artists that caught his attention he continued his search for gospel rap music. He finally came across a christian rap artist that he liked. After listening to some more of the artist's songs and purchasing his albums he became inspired to rap again. After 6 years away from the rap industry ILL PHIL is set to realease a new album entitled Soul Food. He desires is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through a gift that he always loved to share, Christian Rap!

UPDATE...

ILL PHIL wants everyone to know: "I am excited about my new album. The production is going extremely well and I can't wait until it is released. C hristian rap has definitely been taking some major steps to gain notoriety and I'm anxious to contribute. I know that we will never reach a majority status in regards to acceptance, but that is understandable being that the majority of the world will perish. However, my heart is still set on spreading the gospel through music. If one soul can be touched through christian rap then the mission is accomplished.

UPDATE...

Unfortunately, the album has be pushed back to May 2010.  I really want to make sure that the promotion is set up well. The  bright spot is that it now releases immediately before the summer which is a plus in regards to live performances. Many performance opportunities open up  for Christian rap artist during the summer due to it being festival season. However, trust that  it is well worth the wait.
